Ronnakrit Rattanasriampaipong
Growing up in the 'concrete jungle' of Bangkok, Thailand, Ronnie was drawn to geology as a way to explore the world beyond the city. His early career included five years in the oil and gas industry, an experience that eventually inspired me to pivot toward understanding the 'opposite side' of the Earth system: climate change. He moved to the U.S. as a Fulbright student to complete his Ph.D. in Oceanography at Texas A&M University. Now a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Geosciences at the University of Arizona, he works within Dr. Tierney’s lab to develop a new method to help improve temperature reconstructions of past climates. When Ronnie is not analyzing data, you can find him on the sidewalks, random streets in town, or some trails; he is an avid endurance runner and frequent participant in ultra-marathons.
