Our goal is to help graduate students pursue careers in research and education, energy and mineral resources, environmental policy, and many other areas. Fun fact! US News and World Report ranks our graduate programs No. 5 in Geology, No. 6 in Geochemistry, No. 4 in Earth Sciences, No. 15 in Geophysics.
About Our Program
The Department of Geosciences at the University of Arizona is one of the top graduate programs in the country, and we value excellence, creativity, enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and diversity. Our current graduate students include several NSF, EPA, NASA, NSAS, ARCS fellows, and PEO Scholars.
Geosciences graduate students and faculty work in field areas across the globe! Our department also has some of the best laboratories in the world. We have a state-of-the-art isotope geochemistry labs, thermochronolgy labs, and an organic geochemistry lab.
Degrees
Financial Support
All students who apply are considered for financial support (in the form of teaching/research assistantships, or fellowships). Almost all students admitted to our degree programs are offered financial support; MS students are funded for two years, and PhD students are funded for four years. PSM students are not supported by the department butinterested students should contact geos-lpeg@arizona.edu.
