Since early 2023 I have been working as a SOCCOM postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. Joellen Russell (Department of Geosciences) and Dr. John Krasting (GFDL, Princeton NJ). My current research focuses on how extratropical cyclones in the Southern Hemisphere impact the Southern Ocean through changing how heat and carbon are taken up and stored by the ocean. The Southern Ocean plays a key role in determining how the climate system responds to emitted carbon dioxide, and so understanding how the ocean changes under extreme events is crucial to projecting how the climate may evolve. For this research, I use a variety of climate models, which represent processes in the ocean, atmosphere, and other parts of the Earth system through mathematical equations.

Educational Background:
2023 - PhD in Ocean Sciences, University of Liverpool, United Kingdom
2017 - MSc in Climate Physics, University of Kiel / GEOMAR, Germany
2014 - BSc in Mathematics, Texas A&M University, Texas

Research Interests:

Ocean heat and carbon, response to emissions, climate change, coupled atmosphere-ocean dynamics
