Jonny Wu's research is in the broad fields of Tectonics, Geodynamics, and Structural Geology.  We focus on structural mapping of Earth's subsurface using diverse datasets from geophysics, geology, and geochemistry.  We aim to understand Earth's evolution in 4D to reconstruct plate tectonic history, sedimentary basins and ocean basins, mantle convection, dynamic topography, and the distribution of energy and mineral resources.

We use techniques and datasets that include: reflection seismic, mantle tomography, sedimentary basin analysis from boreholes and well logs, AI & machine learning, arc geochemistry, plate tectonic modeling, analog 'sandbox' modeling, and geodynamic modeling.
