UofA Geosciences' George Gehrels Receives IUGS Emile Argand Medal
Congratulations to Dr. George Gehrels - University Disinguished Professor, Associate Department Head, and undergraduate advisor - on receiving the annual International Union of Geological Sciences Emile Argand Medal in Busan, South Korea recently. He also gave a speech. The award itseld is "intended to honour an active senior geoscientist of high international and outstanding scientific record". (iugs.org) Dr. Gehrel's research focuses on the tectonic evolution of continental margins, as well as developing geochronologic tools to study tectonic processes. With nearly 23.000 citations, over 300 publications, and a multitude of other awards/recognitions under his belt, it is no surprise that George was up for such a distinguished honor.
