Scholarship Universe is a scholarship matching service exclusively for University of Arizona Students. When a student logs in, they are asked a series of questions and matched to scholarships based on their answers. Scholarship Universe matches Wildcats to thousands of UA and non-UA opportunities and can help you to apply for and receive scholarship awards quickly and easily. Departmental Scholarships

The Department of Geosciences currently offers several scholarships to qualified undergraduate students. Approximately $52,000 in scholarships were awarded in 2021-2022! The requirements and deadlines for each of the scholarships may differ. Departmental scholarship funds will be awarded at the largest award value feasible whenever possible and based on available funds, as well as the number of eligible applicants. Scholarship funds may be awarded between multiple eligible applicants or may be combined to provide more meaningful awards when available funds allow.

 

        The following scholarships are available for Fall 2023 awarding. Apply via Scholarship Universe beginning 02/13/2023 through 04/04/2023!

        Non--research-based include the following scholarships. Additional scholarship-specific eligibility criteria is included below. Please consider applying for one of these scholarships via the Scholarship Universe system for the 2022-2023 Academic Year. Applications will open in Scholarship

        Geosciences is able to offer need-based program fee reimbursements for Geosciences majors each Fall and Spring semester. All Program Fee Reimbursement Scholarship awards for the 2021-2022 Academic Year have been awarded. No application is required. Effective Fall 2022, all available Program Fee Reimbursement Funds will be automatically distributed each fall and spring to eligible GEOS BS students according to GEOS Administration discretion. Preference is generally given to students with the most unmet financial need. Award amounts and the number of awards depend on the number of eligible applicants and the availability of funds.

        Eligibility Criteria:

        1. Be a current, full-time enrolled Geosciences major in any degree sub-plan and have paid your GEOS Program Fee by the first class day of the semester (Fall and Spring awards only).
        2. Be a U.S. Citizen or an eligible non-citizen of the United States.
          • If not a US citizen, you must meet the additional criteria outlined here.
        3. Have a completed 2023-2024 FAFSA at UA that demonstrates financial need.

        The Antevs Scholarship fund will provide a scholarship for undergraduate or graduate students at the University of Arizona who are graduates of any High School within Gila County, Arizona, who show scholastic promise, and who have demonstrated financial need.

        Apply for the Fall 2023 Antevs Scholarship in Scholarship Universe between 02/13/2023 and 04/04/2023. Award amounts depend on the number of applicants and the availability of funds.

        Eligibility Criteria:

        1. Be a current undergraduate or graduate student in any sub-plan or discipline within the Geosciences department.
        2. Be a U.S. Citizen or an eligible non-citizen of the United States.
          • If not a US citizen, you must meet the additional criteria outlined here.
        3. Have a completed 2023-2024 FAFSA at UA that demonstrates financial need.
        4. Have graduated from a High School within Gila County, Arizona.

        The Friends of Kartchner Caverns Scholarship fund will provide a scholarship for undergraduate students at the University of Arizona who are actively enrolled in the Geosciences major. Award amounts depend on the number of applicants and the availability of funds.

        Eligibility Criteria:

        1. Be a current undergraduate or graduate student in any sub-plan or discipline within the Geosciences department.

        Recipients of this scholarship will be undergraduates or graduates in the Department of Geosciences who exhibit exceptional Academic ability and financial need.

        Apply for the Fall 2023 R. Winslow Scholarship in Scholarship Universe between 02/13/2023 and 04/04/2023. Award amounts depend on the number of applicants and the availability of funds.

        Eligibility Criteria:

        1. Be a current undergraduate or graduate student in any sub-plan or discipline within the Geosciences department.
        2. Exceptional Academic ability.
        3. Have a completed 2023-2024 FAFSA at UA that demonstrates financial need.

        The W. Voorhees Memorial scholarship fund will provide a scholarship for a sophomore in geology with a minimum 2.5 GPA, have Sophomore class standing, and have demonstrated financial need.

        Apply for the Fall 2023 W. Voorhees Memorial Scholarship in Scholarship Universe between 02/13/2023 and 04/04/2023. Award amounts depend on the number of applicants and the availability of funds.

        Eligibility Criteria:

        1. Be a current, full-time enrolled Geosciences major in any degree sub-plan.
        2. Be a U.S. Citizen or an eligible non-citizen of the United States.
          • If not a US citizen, you must meet the additional criteria outlined here.
        3. Have a completed 2023-2024 FAFSA at UA that demonstrates financial need.
        4. Have a minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA.
        5. Have Sophomore class standing, which you can check in your UAccess Student Center.

         

        The Wilson Thompson Scholarship fund will provide a scholarship for undergraduate students at the University of Arizona who are actively enrolled in the Geosciences major and have an interest in environmental studies.

        Apply for the Fall 2023 W. Voorhees Memorial Scholarship in Scholarship Universe between 02/13/2023 and 04/04/2023. Award amounts depend on the number of applicants and the availability of funds.

        Eligibility Criteria:

        1. Be a current, full-time enrolled student declared in any College of Science undergraduate degree plan.
        2. Express an interest in Environmental Studies.
          • Preference to be given to Geosciences B.S. Major students who express an interest in environmental studies.

        The Paul E. Damon Memorial Scholarship fund provides support for full-time enrolled undergraduate students in good academic standing with financial need. Preference is shown to students who are conducting research involving geochemistry.

        Unavailable for 2021-2022 Academic Year

        Eligibility criteria:

        1. Be a current, full-time enrolled Geosciences major in any degree sub-plan and can demonstrate an interest in Geochemistry or is actively involved in Geochemistry research.
          • Students who are conducting research for credit, pay, or on a volunteer basis are eligible to apply.
        2. Have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
        3. Be a U.S. Citizen or an eligible non-citizen of the United States.
          • If not a US citizen, you must meet the additional criteria outlined here.
        4. Have a completed FAFSA at UA that demonstrates financial need for the fiscal year that you are applying.
