Teaching
I have a strong interest in teaching, especially in the geosciences. We all live on the Earth, shouldn't we all understand how it works? Teaching to me is about critical thinking - if you can think critically, can understand cause and effect relationships, and are creative, flexible, and open to ideas, you can learn anything, anytime. So, in my teaching I strive to teach learning skills in addition to the technical components of the subject matter. Here is a brief synopsis of my teaching experience (please see my CV for more detail - link to the left):
- 2006-Present Post-doctoral Research Associate, Department of Geosciences, The University of Arizona
- 2008 Guest Lecturer for NATS 101, Department of Geoscienes, The University of Arizona
- 2001-2006 Graduate Teaching Fellow, Department of Geological Sciences, University of Oregon
- 2001 Geology Field Course Assistant, Department of Geological Sciences, University of Oregon
- 1998-2001 Lab Instructor and Tutor, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Eastern Michigan University
- 1998-1999 Tutor, Department of Mathematics, Eastern Michigan University
